Jen+Gary | Engagement Photographer Canton Michigan

Jen + Gary have one of those true love stories.  Parted by many miles, absence truely does make the heart grow founder.  As Jen found herself moving to Michigan to be with the man she loved.  These two have a very fun spirit about them and it was so fun to capture it during their engagement shoot.

Soul Mates | Detroit Michigan Engagement Photography

This lovely couple spent the afternoon in Detroit with me and about 20 other area photographers for an engagement shoot hosted by Boka Studios & Jean Smith Photography earlier this month.  It's truly magical when you get the opportunity to photograph a couple that truly "gets" each other.  They are so naturally in love and full of life it was easy to see they are soul mates.  Don't you agree?

He Said She Said | Photography Workshop Detroit, MI

Last Saturday I had the honor to participate in the He Said, She Said workshop hosted by the fabulous Travis & Jean Smith.  The workshop was held at their Detroit studio in the Russell Industrial Center, which is also home to a wide variety of area artists.  Detroit Industrial Center for a photo shoot you say?  Yes, of course! Check out theses images of Jean at work, demonstrating how she thinks outside of the box to get creative images in a parking lot along side a freeway.

So, are you wondering what the images look like that she was crawling around the parking lot to get?  Well,  check them out:  http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith214.jpg  and  http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith213.jpg  and http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith108.jpg

Pretty Darn cool, eh?  Yeah, Travis and Jean pretty much opened up their vault (lol, Seinfeld fans) to the 20 plus talented photographers who attended the workshop.  They had awesome give-a-ways from their sponsors and food, omg the food!  Travis demonstrated his mad lighting skills working with models and HS seniors while Jean charmed the little ones that came for the children and family shoot.  Then, after loading us up with tips, tricks, and lot's of chocolate...they set us loose to capture our own images.  I chose to photograph High School Seniors and do an engagement photo shoot.  I also couldn't resist capturing a few images of the families and little ones who were awaiting their time to shine.

I will do a separate post for the engagement photos since that is where I spent most my shooting time and captured the most images.  I had a wonderful time spending the day with these wonderful photographers and models.  After all, how often do I get the opportunity to almost get run over by an impatient driver because I'm laying on my belly in an industrial parking lot trying to get "THE" shot of a couple in love?  Not very...   So in closing, below is one last photos of us packing it up and heading in for the day.  Cheers!

Jesus Loves Me | Child Photographer, Canton Michigan

Sweet Jessica was such a trooper coming out for her first communion photo shoot.  She woke up that morning feeling a little under the weather and had a wardrobe malfunction before heading out to the church.  Being a mother myself, I knew right away she was not feeling well but she did not let it stop her from her big day.  She quietly walked me through her ceremony that was to take place later that afternoon and didn't hesitate to stop when I asked her for a quick pose or a smile.

SJ5K | Canton Michigan Photographer

Even the rain couldn't stop the pouring of love and support for Jesse Lindlbauer at last Sunday's SJ5K race.  Over 1500 people participated in the event to raise money for the Lindlbauer family.  Jesse suffered a brain abscess rupture last year which resulted in the loss of speech and movement.  Jesse is working hard to regain those functions with the support of family, friends, and the community.  My heart goes out to the Lindlbauer family.
