He Said She Said | Photography Workshop Detroit, MI

Last Saturday I had the honor to participate in the He Said, She Said workshop hosted by the fabulous Travis & Jean Smith.  The workshop was held at their Detroit studio in the Russell Industrial Center, which is also home to a wide variety of area artists.  Detroit Industrial Center for a photo shoot you say?  Yes, of course! Check out theses images of Jean at work, demonstrating how she thinks outside of the box to get creative images in a parking lot along side a freeway.

So, are you wondering what the images look like that she was crawling around the parking lot to get?  Well,  check them out:  http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith214.jpg  and  http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith213.jpg  and http://www.jeansmithphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jeansmith108.jpg

Pretty Darn cool, eh?  Yeah, Travis and Jean pretty much opened up their vault (lol, Seinfeld fans) to the 20 plus talented photographers who attended the workshop.  They had awesome give-a-ways from their sponsors and food, omg the food!  Travis demonstrated his mad lighting skills working with models and HS seniors while Jean charmed the little ones that came for the children and family shoot.  Then, after loading us up with tips, tricks, and lot's of chocolate...they set us loose to capture our own images.  I chose to photograph High School Seniors and do an engagement photo shoot.  I also couldn't resist capturing a few images of the families and little ones who were awaiting their time to shine.

I will do a separate post for the engagement photos since that is where I spent most my shooting time and captured the most images.  I had a wonderful time spending the day with these wonderful photographers and models.  After all, how often do I get the opportunity to almost get run over by an impatient driver because I'm laying on my belly in an industrial parking lot trying to get "THE" shot of a couple in love?  Not very...   So in closing, below is one last photos of us packing it up and heading in for the day.  Cheers!
